Religious Ed Registration Forms were mailed to those families enrolled this past year. If you would like an  RE Registration Form mailed to you, please email smurphy@sje1.org & one will be sent.

We will register families for next year's classes while hoping for the best and preparing for other options. The Diocese and all DREs are working together with their Pastors to prepare for the upcoming year's catechesis.

RCIA & RCIC:
Welcome and Congratulations to the Candidates and Catechumens who have recently received their Sacraments.

Interested in learning more about the Catholic Faith? Our next set of RCIA classes are scheduled to begin the Monday after Labor Day. Call the Parish Office for more info.

First Holy Communion:
All First Communicant families should have received emails from SignUpGenius, inviting them to sign up for a Monday through Saturday morning Mass, for the reception of the Sacrament.  If you have not yet received this invite, please contact the RE Office: by calling (504)347-2922 x209 or emailing smurphy@sje1.org

Thank you for your patience!  Let us pray that this crisis ends soon.  Stay healthy, safe and well.  May God bless you & yours!

Dear Parents,

As we patiently await  the end of our forced retreat, please continue to teach your child(ren) the Faith.  Use the materials your child has been using all year in class. Please review at least a lesson each week by reading and discussing the lesson together, reviewing new vocabulary, and praying together. You can also watch Mass online (see links here) and practice devotions (Rosary and Novenas).

Our RE Catechists have been asked to share lesson plans with you as we wait out this time until we can resume our catechesis classes. If you do not hear from them, please continue with your child's text and if you have any questions, please contact the RE office.

Please check back to this webpage as we hope to add additional links soon.

Saint Michael

Saint Michael, the Archangel, defend us in battle.
Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray,
and do thou, O prince of the heavenly host,
by the power of God, thrust into hell Satan and the other evil spirits who prowl about the world for the ruin of souls.
Amen.

For CATECHISTS/VOLUNTEERS:

Becoming "Fully Compliant"

As most of you are well aware, the Diocese of Arlington requires that all adults who have substantial contact with children become "Fully Compliant" by 1) undergoing background checks and 2) taking part in the VIRTUS Training Seminar.  These are requirements of the diocese and not suggestions.  Therefore, if any of these requirements are outstanding it is up to you to meet them as soon as possible.

What if I still need to complete background check paperwork?

Please visit:

https://www.arlingtondiocese.org/Child-Protection/Background-Checks/

What if I still need to participate in a VIRTUS Training Seminar?

Please visit:

https://www.arlingtondiocese.org/Child-Protection/VIRTUS/

Volunteer Ministries in Religious Education:

Teachers and Aides receive preferences on class assignments for their children. Aides are expected to substitute for the teacher when needed. Teachers and aides must submit the signed Oath of Fidelity (see the Religious Ed Office for a copy).

If you have any questions or need assistance, please contact the Religious Ed Office.

Religious Items Needed:

HOLY CARDS, CROSSES, SMALL STATUES, MEDALS, & ROSARIES

Do you have any religious items in your house that are no longer used? Do you receive religious items in the mail from those organizations seeking donations and you have no idea what to do with those items? Well the Religious Ed program could definitely use them! Please drop them off at the Parish Office and you will be blessed with many heavenly rewards!
