It is the mission of the religious education department to ensure that our young people receive a proper formation of the Catholic faith in all its breadth and authenticity. 2016-2017St. John’s Religious Ed (RE) Family registrations forms that are Pre-filled, are available at the parish office. All students in grades 1-12 who are not attending a Catholic school should be enrolled in RE classes. RE classes begin on August 21st and 22nd.

U For the upcoming year, we offer the following 4 Sessions for grades K-8:
Ø Session A: Sunday 9:15am – 10:30am
Ø Session B: Sunday 11am – 12:15:pm
Ø Session C: Sunday 3:45pm – 5pm
Ø Session D: Monday 5pm – 6:15pm
U High School grades 9-12 will continue to have classes at these times:
Ø Sunday 4pm – 5pm
Ø Monday 5pm – 6pm
Ø Monday 7pm – 8pm
For Monday and Tuesday afternoon and evening Sessions, the RE program will follow the Fauquier County Schools & “after school” cancellations at www.fcps1.org
For all Sessions, please check the parish website www.sje1.org or call 540-347-2922 and follow the instructions for "weather related" cancellations.
Becoming "Fully Compliant"
As most of you are well aware, the Diocese of Arlington requires that all adults who have substantial contact with children become "Fully Compliant" by 1) undergoing background checks and 2) taking part in the VIRTUS Training Seminar. These are requirements of the diocese and not suggestions. Therefore, if any of these requirements are outstanding it is up to you to meet them as soon as possible.
What if I still need to complete background check paperwork?
Please contact me as soon as possible and we will make arrangements to make this happen.
What if I still need to participate in a VIRTUS Training Seminar?
The steps are extremely simple:
1. Go to the home page for VIRTUS Online.
2. In the left-hand column, click on 'Registration'.
3. Click on , 'Begin the Registration Process'.
4. In the box which reads
'Select your Organization'. scroll down to
5. Next you will be prompted to choose a user name and password.
6. From here follow the remaining prompts.
Volunteer Ministries in Religious Education:
Teachers and Aides receive preferences on class assignments for their children. Aides are expected to substitute for the teacher when needed. Teachers and aides must submit the signed Profession of Faith.

HOLY CARDS, CROSSES, SMALL STATUES, MEDALS, & ROSARIES
Do you have any religious items in your house that are no longer used? Do you receive religious items in the mail from those organizations seeking donations and you have no idea what to do with those items? Well the Religious Ed program could definitely use them! Please drop them off at the Parish Office and you will be blessed with many heavenly rewards!
